Kevin Gillen, PhD, senior research fellow in the Lindy Institute for Urban Innovation, was quoted in March 8 Wall Street Journal editorial about Philadelphia’s unions. In 2009, Gillen analyzed city and federal data and found a unionization rate of 75% for private construction jobs in Philadelphia County, compared to 14% nationally.
