A Search for Survivors and Answers: How Could the Condo Near Miami Have Collapsed?

Abi Aghayere, PhD, a professor in the College of Engineering, was quoted in a number of stories about the catastrophic collapse of a condo building in Florida last week, including a June 25 New York Times piece and two June 26 Miami Herald stories, one about possible causes of the collapse and one about the federal agency investigating it. He was also interviewed in a June 25 KYW-TV (CBS-3) segment about the collapse and quoted in a June 26 Associated Press story about theories around the collapse and a June 27 Associated Press story about reports of structural problems in the building from 2018 — both stories were picked up by hundreds of outlets across the country, including the Los Angeles Times, CNN online and ABC News online.
