A Reckoning for the Term “Student-Athlete”

Ellen Staurowsky, EdD, a professor in the LeBow College of Business, was mentioned in an Aug. 26 Diverse Issues in Higher Education article about the history of the term “student-athlete” and college sports journalists recently deciding not to use it because it implies athletes are students, not employees, and cannot be compensated for their commitment to university athletics.
