Butterfly is Half-Male, Half-Female

A story in the Philadelphia Inquirer on Jan. 7 featured a butterfly found at the Academy of Natural Sciences that is half male, half female, known as gynandromorphy. The preserved rare butterfly will be put on display starting Jan. 17. Jason Weintraub, collections manager of entomology, Greg Cowper, curatorial assistant of entomology and Nate Rice, collections manager of ornithology, were quoted in the story.
