Drexel team develops 'belly band' to monitor contractions of pregnant women

Genevieve Dion, director of the Shima Seiki Haute Technology Lab; Kapil Dandekar, PhD, a professor in the College of Engineering; and Owen Montgomery, M.D., chair of obstetrics and gynecology in Drexel’s College of Medicine, were quoted in a May 22 WHYY/Newsworks.com story about their work to create a belly band that can monitor uterine contractions and fetal activity. Adam Fontecchio, PhD, a professor in the College of Engineering, and Timothy Kurzweg, PhD, an associate professor in the College of Engineering, were also mentioned in the piece.
