Brian Stuart
Associate Teaching Professor of Computer Science

Stuart’s research and experience spans a variety of computer science disciplines from operating systems and networking to machine learning and automation. He is also a scholar of computer history, focusing specifically on early computing technology, including the Electronic Numerical Integrator and Computer (ENIAC) — the first  computer. Stuart has published and presented extensively on the history and evolution of various computer systems, architectures and programming languages. He has commented in news reporting on the history of computers and various technological systems, including robocalls, apps and mobile device data storage. Stuart has also served as an expert witness in technology copyright cases.

 

His professional background includes working as a senior engineer for a data storage company where he gleaned a great deal of experience in developing cloud storage solutions for companies of all sizes. As a teaching faculty member in Drexel’s College of Computing & Informatics, Stuart uses his experience to prepare students for evolving and emerging fields in computer science, including image processing, robotics and automation, data communications and distributed operating systems. He has authored a number of texts and academic papers about new methods of data storage, operating systems and computer vision.
