Alex Poole, PhD
Poole is an expert in the creation and management of archives and digital records. His research focuses on the electronic preservation and curation of data and also looks at how technology and digital tools, such as social media, mapping, digitization, 3D modeling and 360 image visualization and augmented reality are being used to better understand and present humanities subjects.
As an affiliate of Drexel’s Center For the Study of Libraries, Information & Society and of the Metadata Research Center, Poole works with a group of experts who look at broad issues affecting library and information science, including how it is taught, the effects of technology, and efforts to make the field more inclusive. Poole has been published in Digital Humanities Quarterly, American Archivist, Archival Science, Journal of the Association for Information Science and Technology, the Journal of Documentation, and Information & Culture. He is a recipient of the Williams Fund History Research Paper Award from the Association for Information Science and Technology and the Theodore Calvin Pease Award from the Society of American Archivists.
