Michelle McHugh

Department Head, Assistant Teaching Professor of Television Management

McHugh is an expert in television production and management. An Emmy Award-winning producer, McHugh spent 14 years in the television industry and currently serves as a trustee for the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS), which oversees the Daytime Emmy Awards, as well as other industry award shows. She is former president of the Mid-Atlantic Chapter of NATAS. McHugh is the director of Drexel’s television management program and advisor of DNews, Drexel’s news magazine program which airs locally on DUTV and on multiple social platforms.

McHugh has a deep background in producing television news broadcasts and overseeing newsrooms at Philadelphia’s KYW-TV (CBS-3), WCAU-TV (NBC-10) and WGHP-TV (FOX-8) in Greensboro, North Carolina, in addition to working in non-profit communications. She can provide expert insight on the evolution of local broadcast television and media management. At Drexel, she currently teaches graduate television management and undergraduate television production courses and guides Drexel’s award-winning, student-produced news magazine.
