Jon Chase Appointed Vice President of Real Estate and Facilities

A message from Executive Vice President, Chief Operating and Financial Officer, and Treasurer Helen Y. Bowman:
I am pleased to announce that Jon Chase, who most recently served as Drexel’s Assistant Vice President of Environmental Health and Radiation Safety, has been appointed Vice President of Real Estate and Facilities, succeeding Alan Greenberger, who retired on Oct. 3 after four and half years of dedicated service leading the department.
Jon has been a valued leader within the Real Estate and Facilities team for 25 years, with demonstrated experience managing complex academic and research infrastructure, leading emergency response, supporting capital planning, and building and maintaining effective relationships with both internal and external partners. Throughout his tenure, Jon has played a key role in major development and renovation projects undertaken by Drexel and our third-party development partners, including the Papadakis Integrated Sciences Building, Gerri C. LeBow Hall, Health Sciences Building and many more. As campus space usage shifted over the years, Jon’s team safely and successfully decommissioned and relocated over 500 research laboratories. And during the COVID-19 pandemic, Jon led Drexel’s operational response, including ventilation assessments, occupancy modeling, and developing strategies for reopening campus in collaboration with the city and partners across the University.
Jon is also a proud Drexel alum and Drexel parent. He earned his bachelor’s degree in biology from Drexel, and his master’s in environmental health from Temple University’s College of Engineering. I am confident that Jon will bring both a fresh perspective and valuable continuity to his new leadership role.
I want to thank the search committee, chaired by Senior Vice President for Student Success and Interim SVP of Enrollment Management Subir Sahu, for their efforts in evaluating and interviewing a strong pool of internal and external candidates. I truly appreciate the time, commitment, and thoughtfulness they dedicated to this process
And I especially want to thank Alan for his dedicated service to Drexel — both as Vice President of Real Estate and Facilities since March 2021, and as a full-time faculty member in the Antoinette Westphal College of Media Arts & Design for the five years prior. Alan, who will continue to teach at Westphal, has been an exemplary Drexel leader who has left an indelible mark on the University and our campuses.
Please join me in congratulating Jon on his appointment and Alan on his retirement.
