Catch Drexel in Ray Romano's 'Somewhere In Queens' Movie
The recently released film “Somewhere In Queens” takes place (at least partly) somewhere in Philadelphia ... on Drexel University's University City Campus, that is.
The movie was co-written and directed by Ray Romano, who also stars in the film as a father whose son is trying out for a basketball scholarship at Drexel while juggling familial and romantic changes and commitments. Drexel is mentioned several times in the film and is even featured in some scenes that were shot on campus in 2021.
You can see two scenes filmed at Drexel in the trailer: at 1:13, you can see the Daskalaskis Athletic Center in all its glory, and at 1:15 you can see Romano, Laurie Metcalf (who plays his wife) and Jacob Ward (who plays his son) walking through Drexel's Korman Family Quad between 31st and 32nd and Chestnut streets, in front of Chestnut Square.
In Philadelphia, the movie is currently playing at the PFS Bourse Theater in Old City. Don't pass on this screening! It will also be available to watch on digital June 6 and through video on demand June 20.
