The following message was sent to the Drexel community on March 19.
Dear Students and Colleagues,
There are no known cases of the coronavirus among anyone in the Drexel community, but the management at Three Parkway, one of Drexel’s Center City campus locations — where Drexel utilizes multiple floors — has alerted the University that a visitor last seen at the building on Thursday, March 12 has tested positive for the COVID-19 coronavirus.
MRP Realty reports that the visitor accessed the lobby, lower elevator bank on the left side of the security desk and the eighth floor, where the College of Nursing and Health Professions leases classroom space. The College also uses space on floors 1-3, and 6-10, along with the Office of Equality and Diversity, Drexel IT and the College of Medicine.
MRP Reality reported on Wednesday, March 18, that its janitorial contractor was applying disinfectant throughout the spaces on the eighth floor, and that the property management would continue enhanced cleaning of all common areas and restrooms as a precaution.
We urge all Drexel students, faculty and professional staff, whether or not they may have visited Three Parkway during the last week, to utilize the CDC's prevention tips website.
For any individuals who visited Three Parkway during this period, it is recommend that they limit interactions with others and continue hand hygiene practices to help prevent spread. Given that city health authorities believe there is evidence of community spread already in Philadelphia, anyone who experiences fevers and respiratory symptoms needs to self-isolate immediately and contact their doctor.
With the campus closed to the public on Friday, March 20, the University’s use of its space at Three Parkway should be limited only to those individuals needed to maintain critical operations or are required to assist in the delivery of online education.
