Drexel Travel to South Korea Restricted Amid Spread of Coronavirus
The following message was sent to the Drexel community regarding travel restrictions to South Korea. For the latest information and updates regarding this evolving situation, visit the Student Health Center website.
Drexel’s Office of Global Engagement is continuing to monitor the coronavirus situation and is following closely the situations in South Korea, Japan and Italy, where the number of cases is increasing. Due to the prevalence of cases in South Korea, all student programs in that country have been suspended, and, additionally, the University has now decided to extend its restriction on travel to include South Korea.
As with the restriction on travel to China, any faculty, professional staff member or student who wishes to travel to South Korea will require written approval from the Provost’s Office. Prospective travel would first need approval from the respective dean or department head, with all requests then submitted to the provost for review and final decision.
During this time of the year, and with any flu outbreak, we want to remind the Drexel community that it is important to proactively minimize the spread of viruses through good hygiene, including covering your mouth when coughing; covering your nose when sneezing; frequently washing your hands; avoiding touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands; avoiding close contact with people who are sick; staying home if you are sick; and sanitizing personal spaces. More detailed information on the coronavirus can be accessed on the Student Health website.
Drexel is committed to preserving and maintaining the health and safety of all members of its community. We will provide additional updates as the situation develops. In the meantime, we appreciate your adherence to these guidelines.
