Cool Treats Near Drexel Hotspots
We’re in the middle of August right now, which means that it’s hot, it’s humid and it’s probably time for ice cream. What better way to cool off than with a frozen treat?
Here are some ideas of places and desserts to try when you’re craving something sweet to beat the heat.
University City Campus
3200 Chestnut St.
There are plenty of options at the Shake Shack University City, including frozen custard (with or without special mix-ins and toppings), shakes and floats.
3300 Market St.
You can order and customize smoothies and frozen teas and cappuccinos. Plus, there’s always the freezer section with pints of ice cream!
2950 Market St.
In addition to selling loaded grilled cheese sandwiches, Milkhouse lives up to its name by offering ice cream and milkshakes. Bonus: there’s also Milk House Suburban Station, which is within walking distance of the Center City Campus and at the Academy of Natural Sciences!

With its expansive list of frozen yogurts and toppings, Kiwi Frozen Yogurt has a lot of cool options. Plus, you can look at what flavors are on tap before heading over!

Located in Reading Terminal Market, this Bassetts ice cream stand hosts a variety of flavors of ice cream and milkshakes. And if you don’t want to wait in line, you can order online and pick up cups and pints in person.
1511 Spruce St.
It’s a Philly classic — and for good reason. Try the Italian or cream ice flavors, frozen custards, gelati, milkshakes and much, much more.

In addition to cakes, cheesecakes and mousse confections, this dessert café offers specialty iced matcha lattes, milkshakes and creamy milk foam teas.
