Chesterbrook Academy at Drexel to Open on Campus

Chesterbrook

There’s a new school opening on Drexel University’s campus: Chesterbrook Academy at Drexel, a preschool located on the first two floors of Vue32, the 16-story residential tower and mixed-use development project located at 3201 Race St. Chesterbrook Academy at Drexel is projected to start its school year Sept. 5, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony to be held Sept. 18.

The school, which is leased by Nobel Leaning Communities Inc., the fifth-largest private child care organization in the country, can accommodate up to 180 children ages six weeks to 6 years old. Chesterbrook Academy combines academics and structured play to provide a high-caliber, developmentally appropriate education within the classroom, enhance dialogue with parents and provide constructive guidance on how they can become more involved with their children’s education through at-home activities that reinforce what’s being learned at school.

The special ribbon-cutting event will take place from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and is open to the general community, University community and local business and political leaders. President John Fry will make remarks and appear alongside Drexel’s board of trustees and members of Philadelphia’s city council. Councilwoman Jannie Blackwell and George Bernstein, CEO for Nobel Learning Communities, the parent company of Chesterbrook Academy, will also provide remarks. Attendees will watch a performance by kindergarten students from Chesterbrook Academy Preschool in Center City, and Mario the Magnificent will be making an appearance as well. After the ceremony, attendees can tour the 13,800-square-foot school and its outdoor play area, and refreshments will be provided by 12th Street Catering.

Drexel faculty, professional staff and graduate students can use a 5 percent tuition discount at this location and other Chesterbrook Academy locations throughout Pennsylvania and New Jersey. So far, 60 children have already enrolled, and there’s no deadline for registration — students are accepted until the school reaches capacity.
