Drexel Students Watch Presidential Debate at "Pizza and Politics" Party

With the 2012 presidential elections only weeks away, polls are predicting a tight race, making the youth vote even more crucial. As President Barack Obama and Republican challenger Mitt Romney attempt to harness young voters, Drexel University students will gather in Nesbitt Hall’s Stein Auditorium (3215 Market Street) for a live screening of the first debate on Wednesday, October 3, 2012, at 8:30 p.m.

The debate will be followed by a discussion led by members of Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity. Students will also be able to register to vote and receive information on Pennsylvania's new voter ID law.

Students in attendance will be available to share their reactions to the debate. Faculty members will also be available for interviews, including Dr. Kevin Egan, acting director of the Center for Interdisciplinary Inquiry and chairperson of Drexel Votes 2012; Dr. Scott Knowles,  professor of history and politics; and Karen Curry, executive director of the Rudman Institute.

The event is sponsored by the Rudman Institute for Entertainment Industry Studies and Drexel Votes, a collaborative effort of Drexel students, staff and faculty to educate the Drexel community about the critical issues in the upcoming elections.
