One hundred and 10 graduates accepted hard-earned degrees from Drexel Provost Mark Greenberg at the second commencement ceremony at Drexel’s Sacramento for Graduate Studies on June 23.

"Drexel is proud to have educated and mentored such an extraordinary group of working professionals," said Sandra Kirschenmann, associate vice provost and executive director for the Center for Graduate Studies.

Sacramento Bee President and Publisher Cheryl Dell delivered the keynote address at the ceremony and focused on lessons learned from her travels around the world.

The Carl “Tobey” Oxholm III Award was awarded to MBA graduate Jose Bodipo Memba for his service to Sacramento students through the Graduate Student Association and the Sacramento community at large. This award was created in 2011 as the highest award presented to a graduating student who has demonstrated the ideals of Drexel in both the classroom and beyond.

The center also conferred doctoral degrees to a group of six Ed.D. students, the center's first doctoral students to complete all of their coursework and defend their dissertations.

Drexel's Center for Graduate Studies is known as one of Northern California's most high-tech educational facilities. It offers five master's, one doctorate and one post-baccalaureate program that are designed for working professionals in the fields of entrepreneurial business, human resource development, higher education and public health. A sixth master's program – the MBA in Healthcare Administration – starts this September.
