Dream It. Do It. Drexel. A Campaign for the Future
Drexel is looking to turn dreams into realities by raising $400 million to support the University’s strategic initiatives through Dream It. Do It. Drexel. A Campaign for the Future.
The campaign launched on November 19 at the Anthony J. Drexel Society Gala and will run through June 2014. As of today, $275 million has been contributed by more than 33,000 Drexel benefactors. This success is due in large part to four significant eight-figure gifts as well as the participation of 54 percent of Drexel's faculty and professional staff in the annual Why I Give Campaign.
Funds raised through the campaign will provide critical support for Drexel’s strategic plans in order to prepare students to become civically engaged scholars who use their education to serve others; connect with the community; improve global health; enhance faculty distinction; and explore new frontiers in science and technology.
The comprehensive campaign also funds scholarships and financial aid programs, faculty research and endowed positions, clinical and outreach programs, and new buildings and projects. Scholarships prove critical for many Drexel students, especially those enrolled in the College of Medicine. One in every 73 medical students in the country is educated at Drexel’s College of Medicine, giving Drexel the largest medical student enrollment of any private medical school in the country.
Spearheaded by the Office of Institutional Advancement and in partnership with Drexel’s colleges and schools, Athletics and the University Libraries, the campaign will also feature key events beginning with a celebration honoring the 120th anniversary of the founding of Drexel on December 17 – the date on which Anthony J. Drexel made his philanthropic commitment a reality and his vision formed the foundation for the University.
