Drexel to Host Celebration for  Historic 2010 Henley Women’s Regatta Win
What/Who: Drexel University will honor at a special celebration the members of the Henley Women’s Varsity Eight and their coaches for their historic 2010 win. On his third day as Drexel’s president, John Fry will attend the event to congratulate the team.The Drexel women's varsity eight boat became the first Dad Vail school to win the Sport Council Cup at Henley and it is one of only four American schools to win the regatta, joining the company of Yale, Brown and Radcliffe. The Dragons competed internationally and won the semi-final race against a boat comprised of some of the best English women's rowers before defeating Grand Valley in the final. The Henley title concludes a remarkable season for Drexel Rowing that included victories at the Bergen and Kerr Cup Regattas and a total of 29 medals for the Drexel crew at the Dad Vail Regatta. Visuals: Ten of the 11 rowers will be in attendance and will be recognized for their accomplishments along with head coach Paul Savell.
