DesignIntelligence Again Ranks Interior Design Programs Among Top in the Nation
DesignIntelligence, a bi-monthly journal published by Greenway Communications for the Design Futures Council, has again ranked Drexel University's Interior Design programs among the top ten in the nation. Housed in Drexel's Antoinette Westphal College of Media Arts & Design, the undergraduate Interior Design program is now ranked sixth in the nation, up from 10th in 2008, while the Graduate Interior Design program is now ranked ninth in the nation, up from 13th. These upward rankings continue to spotlight Drexel as a university moving ahead nationally—US News &World Reports recently listed Drexel as one of the nation’s five “Up-and-Coming Schools”. "We are honored and proud to be recognized by DesignIntelligence as a top ten national program,” said Allen Sabinson, dean of Drexel's Westphal College. "Rather than rest on our laurels, we will continue to strengthen our curriculum, address issues of sustainability and the ways in which Interior Design informs and improves the facilities where people live, work and play." DesignIntelligence is the Design Futures Council's bi-monthly "Report on the Future" and the repository of a vast wealth of timely articles, original research and industry news. In 1993, a network of 26 regional and national design firms began sharing ideas, benchmarks and proprietary financial analyses with one another to shape DesignIntelligence. Through academics grounded in problem-solving design studios, cooperative education employment and dedicated faculty, Drexel's Interior Design programs prepare students for leadership positions in the interior design industry. Within the context of increasingly more complex design projects, the behavioral, technological and aesthetic aspects of interior design are explored. The undergraduate interior design program is accredited by the Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA) and National Association of Schools of Art & Design (NASAD).News Media Contacts: Zeek Weil, director of communications and events, Westphal College 215-895-2629 or zw36@drexel.eduNiki Gianakaris, director, Drexel News Bureau 215-895-6741, 215-778-7752 (cell) or ngianakaris@drexel.edu
