A diverse range of Drexel University graduate programs made significant advances in U.S. News and World Report’s 2010 “America’s Best Graduate Schools” rankings. Drexel’s library science master’s degree program in library and information science was ranked among the nation’s top 10 library science programs in the 2010 report. The iSchool, Drexel’s College of Information Science and Technology’s specialties in information systems and digital librarianship are ranked third and sixth, respectively. The College also ranks fifth in the library and information studies specialty rankings for health librarianship.“Librarianship has been an evolutionary field,” said David Fenske, dean of the iSchool at Drexel. “Demand for information specialists continues because we as people continue to produce new information. While the format may change, with the Internet replacing physical documents in some cases, the need for skilled professionals to manage information remains the same.” Fenske said. Information sciences were not the only programs to receive high marks in the 2010 report. The School of Education at Drexel’s Goodwin College of Professional Studies now ranks 54 out of the nation’s top 100 graduate programs, up 11 places from last year. “We are proud to be ranked among the nation’s leading graduate schools for education,” said Goodwin College Dean William Lynch. “Teachers and administrators each play an increasingly vital role in today’s society. The School of Education’s graduate programs offer innovative and forward-thinking courses to prepare students for a changing educational landscape.”LeBow College of Business jumped from 96 to 89.
