What: Drexel’s LeBow College of Business will kick off the celebration of Global Entrepreneurship Week with a presentation and competition of Drexel students’ concept on ways to improve the lives of senior citizens in an aging baby boomer market. The top three winners will receive cash prizes of $600, $400 and $250.Who: The competition will be judged by industry experts including Dr. Everett Koop, former Surgeon General of the United States. Prior to the competition, Dr. Majd Alwan of the Center for Aging Services Technologies (CAST) will present current innovations being developed to allow older persons to remain safely in their homes for a longer period of time.Visuals: -Students’ three-minute PowerPoint presentations explaining their concept or presenting their model. -Former U.S. Surgeon General Koop as part of the judging panel. -Winners receiving their awards.When: Monday, November 17, 2008, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. (Competition begins at 11 a.m., awards at 12:30 p.m.) Where: Mitchell Auditorium, Bossone Research Enterprise Center (Market Street, between 31st and 32nd Streets)Background: The competition is part of a weeklong series of events in celebration of Global Entrepreneurship Week, an initiative to inspire, connect, mentor and engage young professionals in the field of entrepreneurship.
