What: While the nation awaits the unemployment figures for September and the outcome of bailout plans for the financial market crunch, more than 250 employer organizations have registered to recruit from an estimated 1,200 students and recent college graduates at Drexel University’s fall career fair. More than 1,000 Drexel students and alumni, and at least 200 students from other area colleges and universities are expected to attend the Delaware Valley’s largest academic career fair.Interview opportunities: --Students waiting in line to interview. --Students’ expectations of the job market when they graduate. --Employers on hiring trends. --Employers on the effect of the financial crunch on the job market.When: Thursday, October 2, 2008, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.Where: The Daskalakis Athletic Center, 33rd and Market Streets. Background: Hosted by Drexel’s Steinbright Career Development Center, Drexel has the largest academic career fair in the region. The SCDC maintains strong ties with local, national and international business through Drexel’s co-operative education program—where students alternate periods of classroom study with off-campus, full-time, paid professional-level employment in positions aligned with their academic interests.
