Drexel Marketing Association to Host Pangea Day Event

What: Drexel Marketing Association, a student organization within Drexel University’s LeBow College of Business, will host the Philadelphia-leg of Pangea Day, a global film festival that connects millions of people live through the power of film, music, and culture. This is the festival’s only area appearance.A large outdoor screen will display 24 short films, which were selected in an international competition featuring more than 2,500 submissions from more than 100 countries. The films were chosen “based on their ability to inspire, transform, and allow us see the world through another person’s eyes,” according to the official Pangea Day Web site. The screening will also include live satellite coverage featuring celebrities including Forest Whitaker, Robin Williams, Goldie Hawn, and Cameron Diaz from cities around the world. This free event is open to the public and will also feature free food, a performance by the Drexel Jhalak dance troupe, and a talk from Drexel’s Center for Civic Engagement program director Philip Poczik. Her wish was to create Pangea Day, a day in which the world came together through film, according to Pangea Day’s Web site. The name Pangea comes from the state of the Earth 224 million years ago, when all of the modern day continents comprised one large land mass – truly a world without borders.
