The first SALURBAL Knowledge-to-Policy (KtP) forum took place from November 8-9 in Mexico City at the subregional headquarters of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean. The participatory-style forum brought together SALURBAL researchers and invited participants from regional organizations NGOs, municipal governments, and think tanks for a two-day event focused on dialogue and exchange. The KtP provided the opportunity for researchers to share preliminary results with regional actors from different sectors relevant to urban health and to identify synergies between the project’s approach and regional needs and priorities. An overarching focus of the group-based discussions and sessions on using data and evidence relevant to urban health policies was how to improve the translation of scientific knowledge into urban policies in Latin American cities.

Next steps from the KtP include a formal report and a planned publication synthesizing main themes, actions, and recommendations from the event. The SALURBAL is also working to conduct follow-ups, compile and analyze feedback, and explore new collaboration opportunities is planned for 2020.
