Research

The Office of the General Counsel (OGC) provides legal advice related to all aspects of research, including the areas of compliance, administration, and development.

With regard to research compliance and administration, the OGC provides legal support to the various research administrative offices, the University’s designated Institutional Review Boards, as well as researchers and support staff on day-to-day operations.

The scope of such support includes

  • interpretation of relevant federal regulations and guidelines;
  • the drafting, interpretation, and compliance with relevant University policies and procedures;
  • advising on inquiries, investigations and audits conducted by the various compliance departments and/or committees.

The OGC also reviews and negotiates certain research agreements including industry sponsored research agreements, clinical research agreements, material transfer agreements, collaboration agreements, non-disclosure agreements as well as research service agreements.
