The Environmental Collaboratory

Community-Based Climate Justice Solutions

The Environmental Collaboratory facilitates the co-creation and implementation of climate justice centered solutions and best practices with the leadership of community partners in the Philadelphia region. We do this through a rigorous process based in trust with the community and by fostering co-learning of these solutions nationally and globally

Solutions are driven through new models and innovative approaches to often-disparate fields such as financing, entrepreneurship, engineering, business, law, policy, public health, medicine, data and information technology, history, infrastructure design and management, and civil and human rights, along with environmental fields.  The Environmental Collaboratory is centrally positioned in the Office of the Provost to facilitate expertise across Drexel University.

Initiatives are driven by partnerships with local community stakeholders to facilitate subsequent policy changes and funding opportunities through strategic communication campaigns.
Our research model emphasizes transdisciplinary and participatory approaches to climate and environmental problem-solving by fostering strong collaborations across various academic disciplines, community partners, and external stakeholders.
TEC supports climate and sustainability initiatives through its diverse and talented student leaders. Students engage in community-partnered initiatives, research development, and policy development.
