Howard-Drexel Clean Energy Justice Collective
Drexel has partnered with Howard University, a recipient of the U.S Department of Energy’s inaugural Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HCBU) Clean Energy Education Prize, to establish the Howard-Drexel Clean Energy Justice Collective. This program is a series of workshops centered on clean energy justice, aimed at providing students at both universities with the knowledge and tools necessary to pursue careers in clean energy and integrate justice principles into their work.
This partnership has allowed for faculty and staff at both universities to collaborate across departments and disciplines. Facilitators from Drexel and Howard have designed a series of three workshops tailored to students from diverse academic backgrounds. The cross-university exchange program will include experiential learning activities regarding building decarbonization, clean energy, and smart building resilience and electrification. The sessions will include other faculty and guest speakers, each discussing a unique facet of clean energy and environmental justice. Senior level representatives from major energy companies such as Exelon, Pepco, and PECO will participate in the programs as expert guest speakers and competition judges.
