Delaware Route 9 Project
The Environmental Collaboratory is working with the Delaware Route 9 Corridor of New Castle and Claymont in partnership with the New Castle Prevention Coalition and the Claymont Coalition for Environmental Justice to build the capacity for developing and evaluating data, building evidence, and reporting results. The tools and trainings developed for this process will then be made available for use by organizations over a wider scale.
This community is burdened by the historic impact of heavy industrial development and misplaced infrastructure. This builds on work that TEC and Drexel’s Academy of Natural Sciences has begun to document and map the environmental, health, socio-economic and climate vulnerability conditions of the community. The Delaware Environmental Justice Map measures environmental justice in Delaware using publicly available data.
