Job DescriptionThe Exercise Science Lab is dedicated to studying the physiological and psychological antecedents and effects of physical activity to enhance human health and well-being. Ultimately, we hope to develop interventions that help change exercise and healthy lifestyle behavior. Specifically, our lab conducts projects examining the scientific and clinical utility of individually prescribed exercise prescriptions on populations living with various chronic diseases and health conditions. Such populations include, but are not limited to, those living with traditional and non-traditional cardiometabolic risk factors for cardiovascular disease, cancer, chronic kidney, and end-stage renal disease and older adults living with mild cognitive impairment, Alzheimer’s disease and/or related dementias. We also are leveraging group dynamics theories and the potential of exergames (exercise video games) to enhance motivation during exercise, resulting in increases in the intensity and/or duration at which people sustain exercise. We are seeking highly motivated undergraduate or graduate students to help run research project sessions and engage in other aspects of the research process (e.g., data coding, entry, & cleaning; statistical analysis; database searches; recruiting; writing). What you'll do varies from project to project, but it will mostly center around collecting or inputting participant data. Regardless of your role, you will be trained on the procedures before you begin any work. Your experience in our lab greatly depends on your level of interest and engagement in the theory, science, and research process. Obviously, these factors may also affect the quality of work of those helping on the projects, so we’re most interested in hiring those who consider this more than a “job.” Position responsibilities: • Run experimental sessions: consent and instruct participants, facilitate survey completion, physiologic devices (e.g., heart rate straps, fNIR), gather height & weight, manage data collection during participant experimental activity, data entry, debrief participant. • Run preliminary statistical analyses • Validate previous data entry values • Manage laboratory materials • Assist with participant recruitment and strategies • Train and supervise new research assistants • Perform database searches and screen publications according to specific criteria • Code and screen data retrieved from multiple manuscripts • Draft annotated bibliographies for relevant publications Position responsibilities will occur primarily on the Drexel Center City campus. However, the position may include travel within the city to affiliated research data collection sites.
QualificationsBasic website and software skills (e.g., Microsoft Office; Google Drive) • Attention to detail • Reliability and timeliness • CITI human subjects research compliance online training (this can be obtained after hiring and assistance will be provided)

Job DescriptionAre you pursuing an IT-centric degree and would like to put your knowledge to use in between classes? Do you like tinkering and swapping parts to try to get broken things working? Our team’s goal is to solve classroom and lab IT issues for our Drexel Engineering community, and if you have an interest in IT and computers, you’re invited to join us.
Typical tasks include lab workstation checks, wrangling bundles of cables into order, filling out trouble tickets for people dropping off computers, and checking in/out equipment. There may also be occasional opportunities for Office Space-esque destruction of old hard drives and malfunctioning equipment.
We’ll provide guides and walkthroughs for common issues, and our team is here to help if you get stuck. During downtime, workstudy students are encouraged to go through old equipment to help us catalog our ‘junk’ and find new homes and creative uses for retired parts and pieces.
Safety is important – gloves, masks, and safety glasses will be provided if needed, and closed toed shoes are required for entering a lot of our labs. The ability to lift up to 50lbs is helpful (and impressive), but not required.
While I wish we could offer positions to all interested students, this job is only open to students with federal workstudy funds available. All students must reapply after July of every year if you’re interested in continuing to work with us.
If you email us about this position, please let us know a little about you:
• What degree/year/co-op cycle are you in?
• What are your future ambitions?
• What interests you about this kind of work?
Send your info to coe.cts@drexel.edu and we’ll get back to you soon!
