Chemistry Fall Seminar

Friday, October 13, 2023

11:00 AM-12:30 PM

Join us on Friday, October 13th for the second seminar of our Fall Series! Guest lecturer Dr. Rachel Steinhardt will be joining us from Syracuse University's Department of Chemistry.

Abstract:
Dopamine and serotonin receptors are central to brain function, yet are extremely challenging to study, especially in precise regions and narrow timescales. Our ultimate goal is to create new chemical biological tools to study dopamine and serotonin GPCRs in living mammals, without the need for genetic manipulation. Here, we discuss two of our current projects: 1) covalent probes for dopamine receptor D2 (DRD2) and serotonin receptors 5HT2A and 5HT2C; and 2) photocaged, pharmacologically “matched” agonist/antagonist pairs for rapid control of signaling dynamics.
