Bio:
Christian Jordal, Ph.D., LMFT, CST-S is a Clinical Professor in the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences in the College of Arts and Sciences. He has been a member of the Drexel faculty since 2012.
Dr. Jordal's expertise spans couple and family therapy, clinical supervision, and human sexuality. His scholarly and clinical interests center on the intersection of relational health, sexual well-being, and therapist training, with particular attention to how therapists develop the self-awareness and clinical readiness needed to serve diverse populations effectively.
As Program Director of Drexel's COAMFTE-accredited Master of Family Therapy program, Dr. Jordal has led comprehensive curricular innovation, accreditation leadership, and behavioral health workforce development. He teaches in the areas of sex therapy, clinical ethics, and practicum supervision, and has mentored students at the master's and doctoral levels for more than a decade.
Dr. Jordal's scholarship examines therapist training, substance use and family systems, and interprofessional education. He is a co-investigator on the SHINE Project, a $2.4M HRSA-funded interprofessional training initiative focused on youth suicide prevention. He holds post-graduate certificates from the Graduate School of Education at Harvard University, advanced training in transgender mental health from Widener University, and sex therapy from the Council for Relationships.
Beyond the classroom, Dr. Jordal is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and a Certified Sex Therapist Supervisor. He has served as a Commissioner with COAMFTE, a member of the Pennsylvania State Licensure Board, and a national panelist for the MFT licensure examination. He is the former editor of the Journal of Family Psychotherapy and a Clinical Fellow of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy.
