Born and raised in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, Margaret “Peggy” Breslin joined the College of Nursing and Health Professions at Drexel University in July 2003. She earned an Associate Degree in Nursing in 1981 and Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1986 from Hahnemann School of Allied Health. She is proud to be considered an alumna of Drexel University. With her 30 years of nursing experience in medical-surgical areas, intravenous therapy, critical care and the operating room, she relates to the demands and challenges nursing students face today. Breslin is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International, Honor Society of Nursing, Nu Eta Chapter, NACADA (National Academic Advising Association) and served as president of the Infusion Nurses Society, Penns Valley Chapter.

Leslie Calimer, MS – RN-BSN Degree Completion Program

Leslie Calimer began her academic career in 1989 at Women's Medical in the continuing nursing education department. She has worked with registered nurses in the home study department as an administrative assistant offering tests through the RN magazine and online for nurses to receive CEUs for their licenses. Calimer became project manager in the NCLEX department in 2003, forming partnerships with community colleges to assist graduate nurses to pass the NCLEX the first time! She  joined the advising staff in July 2010 for the RN-BSN Degree Completion program. Leslie obtained her Bachelor of Science in Communications and Applied Technology through Goodwin College in 2015 and her MS through the School of Education in September 2017 at Drexel University.

Shannon Edwards joined Drexel University's professional staff in the fall 2016. He recently moved to Philadelphia from Omaha, NE, but grew up in Dunbar, WV. He received his BA in Psychology from West Virginia State University. During his time working for a non-profit organization called College Summit, Shannon discovered his passion for working with students in helping them reach their career aspirations. While working for several different universities, Edwards gained expertise in academic advising, enrollment counseling, financial aid assistance and recruitment. He likes to exercise, participate in community outreach events, play sports and spend time with family and friends.

Megan Joyce, MS – BSN Accelerated Career Entry

Megan joined Drexel University’s CNHP advising team in Summer 2018, making the move from Chicago to Philadelphia. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in journalism & political science, and a Master’s degree in higher education administration & policy (both from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois). Previously, Megan was the Program Coordinator for the MS in Health Communication program at Northwestern, where she advised students on academic, leadership, and career opportunities. She discovered her passion for higher ed during her time as an undergrad, covering campus and interviewing classmates as a student reporter. After college, Megan completed a post-graduate internship at ABC News in Washington DC; while there, she was able to attend a White House Summit on Education, and meet professionals who are shaping the world of education policy. Outside of work, Megan loves dining with friends (especially dessert outings), road trips, nonfiction books/podcasts/documentaries, and watching too much HGTV.

Kerry joined Drexel University’s professional staff in Spring 2019. She moved to Philadelphia from New York to complete her Master’s of Science in Higher Education at The University of Pennsylvania. Kerry found her love for the field of higher education while receiving her Bachelor’s of Science in Counseling and Human Services at The University of Scranton and being heavily involved in campus clubs and activities. After completing her master’s degree, she worked at Rosemont College in the Department of Mission and Ministry. During her time at Rosemont, she gained experience advising students facing many different aspects of the collegiate experience. Outside of work, Kerry enjoys exploring new towns, being outdoors, and spending time with friends and family.

Born and raised in Philadelphia, Andrea Perry joined Drexel University’s professional staff in 2007 and became an academic advisor for the BSN Co-op program in 2009. Perry began her undergraduate studies at Drexel, then graduated magna cum laude with a dual degree Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography and Art History from Tyler School of Art. She holds a MS in Communication from Drexel and is currently pursuing a MS in Legal Studies. She fully understands the demands and pressures faced by students, as she knows from personal experience – changing majors, transferring to another college, studying abroad and working part-time throughout college. In her free time, Perry enjoys spending time with her friends and family (including her cats and dog), gardening, hiking, reading and attending concerts.

Emily Delany

Emily Delany joined Drexel University in the summer 2016 as a student services counselor in the Office of Drexel Central. As a current student in Drexel’s higher education master’s program, she is very excited to continue her zeal for student development as an academic advisor for the medical billing and coding and human lactation certificate programs. Delany’s enthusiasm and dedication to students grew during her year of service as a City Year Philadelphia AmeriCorps member at Grover Washington Jr. Middle School. Serving the city and students of Philadelphia has been the backbone of Delany's work and passion throughout her professional career. This background in social justice, equality and education, makes her an advocate for all students in her work at Drexel. Outside of work, Delany enjoys working out at her CrossFit gym in South Philadelphia, attending live music concerts and exploring new neighborhood food spots in the city.

Robert Lee joined Drexel University in fall 2017 advising the online HSAD program and Medical Billing and Certificate program; then transitioned to health sciences and nutrition sciences at the start of 2018. Lee resides in scenic Bucks County, Pennsylvania; did his undergraduate work at Millersville University earning a BS in Business Management and Psychology and earned a MS in Counseling Psychology from Holy Family University. Prior to this role, Lee was a school counselor for a few schools in the Bucks County area. Outside of work, he coaches CrossFit and Olympic weightlifting to both youth and masters athletes, exercising, binging on the latest TV series with his fiancée and finding new and interesting places to eat (he loves food) with family and friends.

Leah Semmelhaack joined Drexel University’s professional staff in the summer 2013, managing tutor programs and providing academic coaching in the Center for Academic Success (now the Center for Learning and Academic Success Services). Her background in higher and adult education includes supervising student employees, advising student organizations, fundraising and tutoring English as a Second Language. In the spring 2014, Semmelhaack transitioned into the role of academic advisor for undergraduate health sciences students. She enjoys helping students achieve their definition of success and accomplish their personal, academic and professional goals. Semmelhaack earned a BA in English from Pennsylvania State University where she was a Schreyer Honors College Scholar. She also completed a MS in Human Resource Development at Drexel University in 2016. In her free time, Leah enjoys photography, volunteering, attending concerts, traveling and making trips to the beach.

Kate Skladanek joined Drexel's professional staff in August 2011 working in assessment for the undergraduate nursing programs. She transitioned to the position of academic advisor in September 2012. Skladanek is a proud product of New Jersey State Colleges and Universities, having earned a BA in Political Science from the Richard Stockton College of New Jersey, an EdM with Certification in Social Studies Education from Rutgers University, as well as an additional Endorsement in English as a Second Language (ESL) from Richard Stockton College of New Jersey. Skladanek’s professional passions include supporting transfer students, adult learners, and distance learners with the unique challenges they face and assisting students with accessing resources, developing and attaining goals, and completing their academic programs in the most cost-effective way possible. Outside of work, Kate enjoys swimming in the ocean and playing on the beach with family and friends on the same South Jersey beach where she grew up. Other spare time hobbies include hiking, birding, reading, attending concerts, and walking dogs.

Cynarra Tweed joined Drexel University in the summer of 2016. Much of her background comes from Colorado State University where she completed her bachelor of arts, started her graduate studies and worked as an educational programmer working to prevent and respond to gender-based violence and other forms of institutional oppression. Social justice and diversity have always influenced both her professional and academic careers. Her commitment has been to cultivate a safe and inclusive environment for all students that support their development and retention. Specifically, Tweed's commitment and interest lie in disrupting systemic marginalization of diverse and historically under-represented students. Over the years she has had the pleasure of serving students in a variety of capacities, including victim advocacy, teaching, advising and facilitating workshops/trainings on different topics of identity from a social justice framework.
