On September 5, 2012, Ellen Feld, MD, of the Physician Assistant Department had her story, “Worries,” published in The Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA). Her article recounts her personal encounter with grade II ductal carcinoma (breast cancer). Feld relayed the common issues and fears that many women in her position face during their path to treatment and recovery. “Worries” documents her experiences with lumpectomies, receiving lab results, and doctor-patient interactions. Feld’s story concludes with a positive, hopeful ending, one in which she begins her recovery with cancer-free lymph nodes and a positive post-surgery experience.
