Adrian Banning, a clinical instructor in the Physician Assistant Program, was interviewed in the beginning of November for a NurseZone.com article. The article discussed the different educational programs and career opportunities available to military students in active duty as well as veterans after they have served. Adrian spoke specifically about Navy corpsmen and how they were among the first Physician Assistants to be certified with a military background. “The Navy corpsmen had accumulated great military experience that translated coming home and gaining some training to become licensed health care providers,” she said. “There are still lots of veterans coming into PA programs,” she added.

The article also listed schools that offer exceptional programs to both veterans and students in active duty, including our own program here at the College of Nursing and Health Professions. The article’s author, Debra Wood, spoke highly of the veteran services offered at Drexel. “Their Physician Assistant program offers a part-time option and some flexibility in its admission process. First-year students are paired with a second-year student to ease the transition. It has a student veterans group, an office of veteran services, and a lounge for veteran students,” she noted.
