Heather Brossman is an assistant clinical professor in the Department of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Sciences. She is the director of Clinical Education and director of the Pediatric Residency. She completed her entry-level Physical Therapy Doctorate at Temple University, and her Doctor of Health Science at Drexel University. She also completed a Master’s degree in Health and Sport Science, all of which inform her clinical areas of interest. Brossman’s clinical areas of interest and scholarship are related to collaboration with families to support their children across the environments in which families learn, move and play. She is interested in developing family and school partnerships, family and practitioner collaborations and encouraging participation in physical activity, sport and adaptive activities for children with multiple disabilities. Brossman’s teaching philosophy is to be a coach for learners while they develop their knowledge and interests within the profession of physical therapy. Her classroom utilizes active learning strategies to foster engagement, participation and belonging. Brossman also believes in experiential learning in both clinical and community settings. She is an advocate for adapted physical activities and sport for those who are differently abled. She has experience working with individuals across the lifespan for with cardiopulmonary and vascular impairments.
Academic Distinctions
My scholarly inquiry is related to participation-based therapy, participation-based interventions in school-based physical therapy practice, and team collaboration. The research areas of interest includes knowledge translation, evidence-based practice, critical thinking and critical reasoning related to physical therapy practice and clinical education.
