Summer Move-Out Guide for Off-Campus Drexel Students
Drexel University is committed to supporting the West Philadelphia community through meaningful civic engagement. As Drexel Dragons, students are expected to uphold the University's values by demonstrating respect for local residents and maintaining the neighborhoods they call home.
Many families have lived in the local campus community for generations and take pride in their homes and streets. As you prepare to move out of your off-campus residence this summer, we encourage you to take advantage of Drexel's bulk trash removal service and follow the guidelines below to help keep the neighborhood clean and welcoming for everyone.
Bulk Trash Removal Service
To support a smooth and responsible move-out process, Drexel University has partnered with The Enterprise Center to offer a complimentary bulk trash removal service for students living in Powelton Village, West Powelton, and Mantua (Mantua Ave to Market Street, 31st to 42nd Streets). The service will run from Monday, August 17, through Sunday, September 6, 2026, with two collections provided per day, seven days a week, between 6 a.m. and noon. Acceptable items for the bulk trash removal service include large household items (e.g., mattresses, dressers, tables, and couches).
Note: Regular household trash (bagged trash) will not be collected through this service. Follow the City of Philadelphia's trash and recycling schedule for standard waste disposal.
In addition to scheduled collections, large dumpsters for bulk trash will be available at the following locations:
- 3240 Powelton Ave (2 Dumpsters)
- 3412 Powelton Ave (1 Dumpster)
- 3608 Powelton Ave (1 Dumpster)
Lastly, follow these guidelines to help ensure a smooth move-out experience while respecting your neighbors and community:
- Clean Your Property Before Leaving - Clean your space before moving out by wiping down surfaces, tidying any remaining furniture, and removing dust and debris from indoor and outdoor areas.
- Dispose of E-Waste Properly - Do not place electronics in curbside trash. Instead, recycle or donate them through the City of Philadelphia resources and separate recyclables from regular waste.
- Be Considerate When Parking and Loading - Be mindful of others when parking and loading your vehicle during move-out. Avoid blocking driveways and leave enough space for neighbors to park and move safely.
By using Drexel's bulk trash removal services and following responsible move-out practices, you play an important role in maintaining clean, safe, and welcoming neighborhoods throughout West Philadelphia.
