Summer Move Out Guide: Reminders and Free Complimentary Services for Off-Campus Students
As members of the Drexel University community, students play a key role in fostering positive relationships with the long-time residents of the nearby communities. Some families have lived in these neighborhoods for generations and take great pride in maintaining their homes and streets. As you prepare to move out of your off-campus housing, it is essential to follow the proper trash disposal and recycling practices to help keep our shared neighborhoods clean and welcoming.
Students residing in Powelton Village, West Powelton, and Mantua (from Mantua Avenue to Market Street, and 31st to 42nd Streets) can utilize complimentary bulk trash pick-up and donation services through Drexel’s partnership with The Enterprise Center and Rego, available from Monday, August 18, through Sunday, September 7, 2025.
- Bulk Trash Pick-Up Service: Place bulk items, such as mattresses, dressers, and tables, curbside between 6 a.m. and noon for same-day collection. The Enterprise Center will conduct two daily pickups to minimize overnight trash. Please note: household trash, including bagged items, will not be collected through this service. Follow the Philadelphia trash and recycling schedule to dispose of household trash. Additionally, outside of the designated hours, you may take items to the dumpsters at these three locations: 3240 Powelton Avenue (off-street/curbside), 3412 Powelton Avenue, and 3608 Powelton Avenue.
- Donation via Rego: Drexel has partnered with Rego to make donating gently used furniture, clothing, and electronics easy and impactful. Follow the steps below to learn how to donate with Rego:
- Visit Rego’s website: Click here to create an account or log in to your existing one.
- Upload pictures of the items you want to donate.
- Select a date and time for your scheduled pickup.
- Lastly, set your items curbside on the scheduled pickup day.
Lastly, follow these three tips for a smooth and respectful move-out:
- Be mindful when parking and loading: Parking in the city can be challenging, especially while moving out. Be considerate when parking and leave enough space for others to enter and exit their parking spaces.
- Keep your property free of trash and debris: Leave your home in good condition, free of trash and debris. Follow the Philadelphia trash and recycling schedule, and clean up any litter around your property.
- Dispose of waste responsibly: Remember, bulk pick-up does not remove bagged trash. Use the city services for household trash.
