Spring Move-Out Resource: Reminders, Bulk Trash Pickup, and Donation Options for Off-Campus Students
For students moving out of their off-campus residences, we have a few resources to share about bulk trash pick-up services, furniture donation options, and other tips to remember while moving out.
April 4, 2025
As a University committed to civic engagement and developing relationships with Philadelphia residents who live in the nearby areas, we encourage you as a Drexel Dragon to be courteous to your neighbors by incorporating these practices as you prepare to move out this spring:
- Follow Philadelphia City Trash and Recycling Guidelines: Learn how to dispose of items properly.
- Keep Your Property Clear of Debris and Trash: Research the trash and recycling collection schedule for your address.
- Be Considerate, Park Smart: While loading your items, finding a parking space directly in front of your door may be challenging. Leave enough space for others to leave their parking space or enter a new one, and observe the spacing between your vehicle and other cars.
In addition to doing your part to help maintain the neighborhood, please be aware of the bulk trash curbside pick-up service and donation service available to you if you live in the following areas: West Powelton, Powelton Village, and Mantua neighborhood (specifically Mantua Avenue through Market Streets and 31st through 42nd Streets). The services will run from June 18 through July 9, 2025.
- Bulk Trash Curbside Pick-Up: Drexel has partnered with The Enterprise Center to provide a service that will do a curbside pick-up of bulk trash items, including dressers, tables, chairs, mattresses, and more, from 6 a.m. to noon, daily. For students who miss the timeframe to place their furniture on the curb for pick-up, there will be three dumpsters at the following locations for bulk trash items: 3240 Powelton Ave., 3412 Powelton Ave., and 3608 Powelton Ave. Please note that this service will not pick up household trash, such as bagged trash or recycling. Refer to the Philadelphia City collection schedule for trash and recycling removal in your neighborhood.
- Furniture Donation Through Rego: Drexel has partnered with Rego to help off-campus students donate their gently used furniture to local charities. If interested, please visit the Rego website to learn more about the program.
