Campus Dining Spotlight: Chef Josh

Adiah from Drexel Business Services met with Senior Chef Josh H. from Drexel Campus Dining to learn more about what he does in his role and what drives him to serve the Drexel students the best quality food.

Q: When did you start working for Aramark at Drexel? What do you currently do?
A: I started working at Drexel about six years ago. I started in the kitchen, learning how things were taking place here. I quickly got used to the system very well. What I currently do here is oversee the kitchen; I am the senior cook, and I make sure that the quality of the food is great, that the temperature of the food is optimal, that my team feels confident in what they are doing, and that they follow the recipes accordingly.

Q: What inspired you to become a chef?
A: I have always had a passion for cooking and food. At a young age, I always tried to understand how things worked in the kitchen, like flipping a pancake or making some scrambled eggs, which inspired me to pursue a culinary career. Even to this day, I still watch cooking shows that inspire me to create new recipes.

Q: What do you want students to take away from their dining experience at Drexel?
A: I want them to have the greatest experience and enjoy a full and delicious meal. We [Drexel Campus Dining] want to ensure that we’re providing the best customer service and that everyone is happy to the fullest potential that our staff can provide.

Q: Is there anything you want the University community to know about you or your team?
A: I would like to say that my team and I are very invested and passionate about what we do. We make sure that we provide the best quality customer service. The team members are very close and have built a bond with each other, which helps in understanding what the customers are looking for. We all love and appreciate the feedback that the students give on campus. The students always provide good feedback and let us know if there is something that they are happy or unhappy with.

Chef Josh loves what he does and wants to ensure that everyone who eats in the Drexel dining halls is satisfied with the food options Drexel Campus Dining provides. If you see Chef Josh the next time you are in the dining halls, say hi. He is very personable and loves speaking with the students he serves daily.
