Drexel Business Inclusion Center Held an Aramark Hiring Event for Individuals on the Autism Spectrum and With Other Disabilities

The Drexel Business Inclusion Center (Drexel BIC) hosted an Aramark hiring event on Tuesday, June 27, 2023, for individuals on the autism spectrum and with other disabilities. The event took place at Drexel’s Handschumacher Dining Center between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Candidates were interviewed, received on-the-spot job offers, and were hired for a variety of positions, many starting in August and September 2023.

Dianne Malley and Susan Schonfeld from Drexel BIC offered the following reflection on the event: “The Drexel Business Inclusion Center is proud to work with Aramark on this important initiative. We have a track record of identifying opportunities to place this talent pipeline into meaningful, full-time and part time employment and were excited that more than 157 job seekers joined us for this event. Over sixty job offers were made during the event!"

Job seekers were guaranteed an interview and had access to:

  • assistance in completing the application,
  • benefits counseling,
  • support for interviewing,
  • connection to resources,
  • additional support throughout the event, provided by the Drexel Business Inclusion Center.

About the Drexel Business Inclusion Center

The Drexel Business Inclusion Center (Drexel BIC) develops programs and collective strategies to build business' capacity to hire, train, and retain neurodiverse talent. The Drexel BIC is a collaboration of Transition Pathways and Community Integrated Services, which both have a team of highly experienced professionals with deep knowledge of the challenges job seekers with disabilities face, the issues affecting businesses, and the prospective solutions that create a win-win for everyone. The Drexel BIC has engaged approximately 250 businesses, trained more than 1300 professionals, and worked collaboratively with some of the largest organizations in the Philadelphia region. The Drexel BIC has a flexible approach that meets the business where it is today.
