Monitoring the Brain on the Go During Navigation in a Botanical Museum
Our ongoing collaborative DSI project (monitoring brain on the go during navigation in a botanical museum) was featured with a cover story in Chimes magazine that can be accessed online:
A team of researchers from Drexel University Biomed utilized wearable neurotechnology as part of an innovative study to measure how our brain responds to nature. The team of graduate and undergraduate researchers led by Dr. Hasan Ayaz collected and recorded brain activity and other wearable biomedical sensors to measure physiological activity such as heart rate, and electrical properties of the skin as participants walked around Longwood Gardens. An emerging interdisciplinary research field, neuroergonomics, seeks to study the brain’s health and performance in real-world environments. “We want to understand human brain function, its relation to complex behavior, and in its natural everyday life environment, ” said Hasan Ayaz, PhD, associate professor at Drexel’s School of Biomedical Engineering, Science and Health Systems.
