GIP MedTech Innovation Student Wins First Prize in techIES, an International Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition

We are excited and proud to announce that Anush Lingamoorthy, one of our students in the Medical Technology Innovation (MedTech) global course won first prize at the 5th Innovation & Entrepreneurship Summit (techIES 2022) organized by ShanghaiTech University.
The techIES event sponsored is an annual pitch conference and competition that is opened to ShanghaiTech University students as well as all students from international partner institutions. The students from Medical Technology Innovation course were invited to participate in this summit.
The Medical Technology Innovation course is a global classroom offered as part of the Global Innovation Partnership Program in collaboration with the Office of Global Engagement at Drexel. The GIP Program is an initiative of the School of Biomedical Engineering, Health, and Science Systems (BIOMED) at Drexel University to promote interdisciplinary biomedical innovation through international collaborations and partnerships.
Anush Lingamoorthy won first prize with his pitch on DOVE, a biomedical innovation developed by AltruMedLLC to address opioid overdose through a wearable medical drug delivery device. Anush is currently an Electrical and Computer Engineering PhD student at Drexel’s College of Engineering. He co-founded AltruMed LLC in collaboration with Jake Brenner who directs the Bioengineering Lab, a nanotech laboratory at the University of Pennsylvania’s Departments of Medicine and Pharmacology.
As a MedTech student, Anush was invited to participate in techIES 2022. Anush competed in this event and was awarded first prize at the international Session held on December 2, 2022!
