2025 Urban Futures Symposium: Keynote and Panel Discussion

3:30 to 5:30 p.m.; Constantine N. Papadakis Integrated Sciences Building

Did you know that by 2050, nearly 90% of the US population is projected to live in urban areas? The human responsibilities in the future of urbanism are more important now than ever before.

Keynote speaker Tracy Hadden Loh, a Fellow with the Anne T. and Robert M. Bass Center for Transformative Placemaking at Brookings Metro, has dedicated her career to understanding how infrastructures in neighborhoods and cities can impact social, economic and civic outcomes. Her work analyzes small scale community organizing through large scale government services and aims to identify when and how these efforts can make impactful change. Her interests lie specifically in commercial real estate, infrastructure, racial justice and governance.

Then, a panel of Drexel faculty experts will discuss The Role of Cities and Urban Universities in an Ever-Changing World, diving into the issues surrounding the sustainability and livability of modern urban environments through the lens of citizenship, health and infrastructure. Panelists include Richard Dilworth, PhD, Department of Politics; Alina Schnake Mahl, ScD, MPH, Department of Health Management and Policy; and Andrew Zitcer, PhD, Urban Strategies.
