The following email was sent to Drexel students living off-campus in University City:

Dear Drexel Dragon,

We are writing to provide a few reminders and expectations regarding moving out of your off-campus residence this spring.

Off-campus students like you play an essential role in developing positive relationships between the University and the community. Some families in our surrounding campus communities have lived in their home for generations and care deeply about their neighborhood and property. Please review these items regarding moving out of your residence, disposing of your trash items appropriately, and being respectful to your neighbors.

In particular, Drexel students living in the Powelton Village, West Powelton, and Mantua areas (from Mantua Avenue to Market Street and 31st to 42nd streets) may place bulk trash items curbside for complimentary daily pickup beginning June 20 through July 5, 2023, between the hours of 6 a.m. and 12 p.m. Items that qualify include mattresses, tables, dressers, and other furniture items. Outside of 6 a.m. and 12 p.m., students may dispose of bulk trash in one of three locations around the University: 3240 Powelton, 3412 Powelton, and 3608 Powelton Avenue. The dumpsters are monitored daily and replaced as they fill up; please do not leave items next to full dumpsters.

In addition, as you prepare to move out:

• Dispose of trash and recyclables appropriately: Household trash, including bagged trash, will not be collected by the complimentary curbside service; residents should follow their standard City trash and recycling guidelines.
• Maintain your property's appearance: Leave your property the way you found it when you moved in. Keep your property clean and clear of debris, and be aware of trash and recycling pick-up schedule. Help keep the neighborhood clean by taking care of any garbage blown onto the property.
• Be considerate with on-street parking when loading your vehicle: Parking and loading can be challenging in any city. Take precautions to leave space for your neighbors and be mindful of the space between cars — especially if you are loading items into your car.

Remember, you are a steward of Drexel University both on and off-campus, and we appreciate your attention and consideration to being good neighbors in our community.
