Mindful Nature Connections: Valley Forge National Historical Park
Saturday, June 28, 2025
10:00 AM-12:00 PM
Let science and art blend together as we join Academy educator Amber Guzzi and artist Meg Lemieur for a guided hike and instructor-led course in nature journaling at Valley Forge National Historical Park.
First, we’ll hike along a portion of the Grand Parade Trail as Amber identifies geological formations, native plants, and the birds and animals that call the park home.
Then, come to rest as Meg leads the group through an introductory nature journaling exercise. Nature journaling is the practice of using words, pictures, numbers and a series of specialized exercises to collect and record your nature observations, questions, and collections. We’ll use the world around us for inspiration – and don’t worry, artistic skills are not required.
A few program notes:
- This program is best suited for adults and is inclusive of ages 11+. This is a members-only program; guests of members are welcome.
- Pads for sitting on the ground will be provided. You are also welcome to bring your own portable stool or chair.
