Anthony Bloomfield, a senior Entertainment Production and Design student through Pennoni’s Custom-Design major, began his work in theater over 10 years ago. Since then, he has been working as a freelance entertainment technician, engineer, and designer. Trained in both audio and lighting, he is passionate about helping others tell their stories and creating an atmosphere for performers and audiences to immerse themselves in. He is a member of the Drexel Theatre Company and has been a production scholarship student for the last 5 years, working on mainstage productions such as Anon(ymous), Songs for A New World, and The Lightning Thief, as well as Drexel Dance productions.
For his senior capstone project, Anthony presents the world premiere of Girlfails, a new play by local playwright and Drexel graduate, Liv Shoup. He serves as the executive producer, technical director, and lighting designer for this production. Girlfails is a story that champions women against social stigmas and societal expectations, offering a lighthearted yet chaotic representation of the transition from adolescence to adulthood. To support this project, Anthony has assembled a talented group of student theater creatives, without whom he could have not taken on a project of this scale. The production of this new work has brought on many challenges, and Anthony is grateful for the support and work from his team to bring the play from the page to the stage this coming spring.
Girlfails will open on May 30th, 2024, at Plays and Players in the Skinner Studio.
