Partnerships

Performing Arts at Drexel has a strong commitment to community engagement. All three disciplines—music, theatre and dance—sponsor activities open to the local community.

Drexel students can volunteer, participate, earn credit and even take leadership roles in many projects. For more information about community based learning see the links below.

Drexel University dance program is partnering with the Dornsife Center for Community Partnerships to offer free dance classes to youth and seniors in West Philadelphia.
Drexel University Music Program is partnering with the Dornsife Center for Community Partnerships to offer free after school music classes to youth and seniors in the the Powelton and Mantua communities.
HMS School
Wheelchair Dance: HMS School for Children with Cerebral Palsy is a weekly project conducted in collaboration with dance/movement therapist Rachel Federman-Morales.
The Mandell Professionals in Residence Project (MPiRP) is an Westphal College Department of Performing Art’s collaborative program bringing theatre and dance professionals on to the Drexel campus for performances, production and instruction. 
Mantua Theater Project
The Mantua Theatre Project is a non-profit 501 (c)(3) company that addresses the needs of the communities of Mantua, Powelton Village and the surrounding neighborhoods.
Drexel Pilates is an active and growing Pilates community that includes a fully-equipped studio, personalized instruction, mixed-equipment classes, mat classes, and its trademark 450-hour Drexel Pilates Training Program.
Rehearsing Philadelphia was a citywide art-based public project created by Berlin-based composer and artist, Ari Benjamin Meyers, and jointly produced and presented by The Westphal College of Media Arts & Design and The Curtis Institute of Music.
