Music

Student musicians have a wide array of options to showcase their musical talents in one of our four choral groups, two large bands, a jazz orchestra, a full symphony orchestra, and a range of smaller instrumental groups working in various musical styles. 

Students from any program on the Drexel campus can earn minors in Theatre, Dance, or Music; including specialized minors available in Music Performance, Music Theory and Composition, and Jazz and African-American Music.

Choral performance
Drexel has four choral ensembles sponsored by the Department of Performing Arts: All-College Choir, Chamber Singers, Gospel Choir, and the University Chorus.
Chamber Brass and Winds
Chamber Music is a class offered for piano, strings, winds and brass, for students interested in playing in small instrumental ensembles. 
Concert Band Performance
The Drexel Concert Band comprises over 70 musicians from across the university, and is the premier concert band ensemble within the Department of Performing Arts.
Experimental Music Ensemble
The Drexel University Experimental Music Ensemble focuses on music making through improvisational structures, sonic explorations, modal music, irregular time signatures, and aleatoric (chance) processes.
Fusion Band
The Fusion Band is an advanced performance ensemble exploring a variety of musical styles and genres including Funk, Reggae, Salsa, Samba, Afro-Cuban, and World Music.
The Instrumental Jazz Ensemble consist of two groups: the Jazz Orchestra and the Jazztet. Acceptance is by audition only.
Mediterranean Ensemble
The Drexel University Mediterranean Ensemble is open to any student with an interest in performing music from Southern Europe, the Middle East, and Northern Africa.
The Drexel Pep Band performs at home Drexel Men's and Women's Basketball games, travels to post-season tournament games, and are an integral part of the team Spirit.
Percussion Ensemble
The Drexel Percussion Ensemble bring together the ethnic with the orchestral, and the ancient with the modern in percussion instrument applications.
Rock Ensemble
Students have the opportunity to gain experience rehearsing, arranging, organizing, recording, and ultimately performing songs in the rock/pop/contemporary genres.
DUSO
The Drexel University Symphony Orchestra is a full symphony orchestra comprised of strings, woodwinds, brass and percussion and perform a concert at the end of each quarter.

Performance Scholarships
