Upon completion of my Bachelor of Science degree in architectural engineering at the University of Miami in 2007, I decided to enter the workforce. As a civil/structural engineer in training, I designed commercial roof and floor systems for offices, restaurants, and schools for two years before applying to graduate school. I started my Master of Science degree in civil engineering here at Drexel University in 2009 based on the research opportunities the Microbial Risk Assessment for Built Environments (MRABE) fellowship offered. This summer I will begin work at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Indoor Air Quality Ventilation Group to help improve indoor bacterial agent release response and remediation procedures.
During my time here Philadelphia I have also been involved in the Philip B. Lindy Scholars program. Program volunteers help local middle students with math and literacy during weekday tutoring sessions and lead discussions on self-awareness and self-respect during weekend mentoring sessions. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here in Philadelphia and I look forward to the next educational opportunity.
