Justin is a PhD student in Drexel's Molecular & Cell Biology & Genetics program. In 2017, He received a Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award (NRSA) Individual Predoctoral Fellowship to Promote Diversity. Justin's first research experience was as an undergraduate at Tufts University (BS 2012) where he landed an internship at the Boston Biomedical Research Institute (BBRI). While there, he studied stem cell asymmetry in the lab of Dr. James Sherley. At Drexel, Justin is now pursuing his PhD in the lab of Dr. Claudio Torres. His thesis involves studying how premature aging in the brain could contribute to the neurological problems experienced in patients with HIV. Once he acquires his PhD, Justin ultimately wants to perform research on his type of muscular dystrophy.
